Top Ten Tuesday (51)

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the  Broke and the Bookish!

Top Ten Gateway Books

1. Sweet Valley High by Francine Pascal- These were some of the first books I really got into reading in Middle School. I honestly don't remember a lot about them but I did buy the book that takes place ten years later a couple of years ago at RT because Francine Pascal was there.

2. The Firm by John Grisham- I think this is the first adult book I read. After that I read several of his other books.

3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen- This is the first classic book I read strictly for pleasure and really enjoyed.

4. The Giver by Lois Lowry- I read this is 8th grade as a required reading. I fell in love with it. Early signs for my love for dystopian books.

5. The Once and Future King by T.H. White- I was required to read this book in my Senior Honors English class. I will forever be grateful to my teacher for that.

6. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer- This book introduced me to the world of YA literature and my world was forever changed. This is the book I owe my renewed love for reading to.

And that's all of the books I can think of that really paved the way to my love for reading. There are plenty of books that I have read and loved since Twilight but these are the books I think are what shaped my love for reading. All the ones I have read and loved since then are the ones that keep my love for reading alive!

  2. I used to collect the Sweet Valley High books like a madwoman! I'd completely forgotten about those. Time to look them up haha. Had I made a list Twilight definitely would have been on there.

  3. I also love the SVH books. I started reading them in middle school as well. I read most of them. I like 40 or so having read all 183 books. I love the SVU books as well. I, however, did not like SV Confidential (the 10-years-after book), since Francine Pascal ruined everything in that one. (Francine's ghost writers wrote all the other SV books.)
