Top Ten Tuesday (45)

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the  Broke and the Bookish!

Top Ten Bookish Resolutions

1. Write a lot. Maybe not everyday but almost every day. I have wanted/tried to do this for a while but I just can't get into the habit of it. This year, I will. No more excuses.

2. Read more books I already own. I have way too many books that I need to read so I'm going to read a lot more of them before I buy new ones.

3. Read more historical fiction. I haven't really read a lot of historical fiction but I think it's a genre I would actually like if I gave it a shot.

4. Listen to more audiobooks. This one will probably be the easiest. I actually listened to quite a few this year. I don't have an official count but it was quite a few. Hopefully, this year I can listen to even more.

5. Get out of my reading slump. The second half of 2013 was a really slow reading year for me. I didn't read near as much as I would have liked.

6. Reach my Goodreads goal. In 2012, I had a goal to read 100 books and ended up only reading 79. In 2013, I decided to take some of the pressure off and set a goal for 75 and only read 59. I'm setting the same goal as last year and hoping to make it this year.

7. Go back to school and get my Masters in English. I've been wanting to do it for a while so I think this year needs to be the year.

8. Read some classics.  I guess if I do go back to school this one will be required! :)

9. Read to my son more. My son is five and while I do read to him I don't do it near enough. This year I'm going to do it more.

10. Last but not least, have fun reading, writing and blogging!!

  1. My son just turned 6 and I he has a lot of books, mostly because I like to read them so much (and I get bored reading the same ones every night). But I'm lucky because he really does like to be read to and I think he's going to be a reader like me someday :) I hope you go back to school. I wanted to go back and finish my undergrad a year ago and it's the best thing I ever did. It just gave me a whole new purpose and got me out of the rut I was in. I also would like to try some more historical fiction. I read The Diviners and was super surprised to love it. I think I want to read In the Shadow of Blackbirds for my next try in that genre!

  4. Nice list! I've always said I would go back and get my Master's in English as soon as my youngest is in kindergarten. That's in August -- yikes! I doubt I'll get to it this year, but I hope you do. Best of luck with that and the rest of your goals!
