Top Ten Tuesday (33)

Top Ten Most Intimidating Books

(might be intimated by size, content, that everyone else loves it but you are sure you won't etc)

I mainly chose books that I'm intimated by size but I did add some I'm wary of reading.

1) A Song of Ice and Fire Series by George R. R. Martin

I'm sure I'll love this series but they're massive! I own most of them but every time I attempt to read them I change my mind.

2) The Lord of the Rings Series by J. R. R. Tolkien

They're three of them and they're pretty big and since I saw the movies (and love them) now I feel like I don't need to read them.

3) Les Miserables by Victor Hugo

I've tried reading it but it's the size of a Bible and I found it boring.

4) Robert Langdon Series by Dan Brown

The movies made me sleep and I'm sure the books will too, but my friends are always telling me to start them.

5) 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami

1984 by George Orwell is one of my favorite books but this book is huge. (P.S.- I have a gorgeous edition.)

6) House of Leaves by Mark Z. Daniel

It's described as one of the scariest story, which is enough to intimate me but it also happens to be massive.

7) The Diviners by Libba Bray

I'm intrigued by it but I heard a lot of negative reviews from people I trust and it's big so I'm unsure of reading it.

8) Millennium Series by Stieg Larsson

They're big books and I'm afraid I'll find them boring.

9) Under the Dome by Stephen King

I love Michael Grant's Gone series, which Under the Dome reminds me of but it's over a thousand pages!

10) The Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling

I read the first five books and they're okay but I find nothing special about them. I want to give them a second but they're too big to try again and end up disliking them.

  1. The Diviners is definitely worth a read. It's not my favorite of Bray's books (that's a toss up between Gemma Doyle and Beauty Queens), but it's still REALLY, REALLY good. I understand Les Mis. It was slow goings for me, too.

    Great list!

  3. I actually REALLY enjoyed The Diviners... It's a little difficult because there are some slower parts, but it's very well written and interesting! I totally forgot about the George R. R. Martin books! Those SCARE me with their size and numbers!!!
