Armchair BEA: Introductions

Hey y'all!!

This year is officially my first year of Armchair BEA! And while I'm sure all of us would love to be at BEA in NYC I think it's awesome that we have something that we can do to interact with authors, bloggers, and publishers from our armchairs!

So, now on to my introduction!

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

My name is Ashley. I'm 25. I'm from a small town in Alabama. I graduated from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). I've been blogging (seriously) for about a year. I got into blogging because I loved reading and reading other people's blogs. I'm also an aspiring author so I love to write and share my thoughts so I thought blogging would be an awesome way to do that!

Where in the world are you blogging from? Tell a random fact or something special about your current location. Feel free to share pictures.

As I said earlier, I'm from a small town in Alabama that I'm sure you've never heard of. (It's Flomaton, in case you were wondering). It's right on the Florida/Alabama line so I'm pretty close to the beach but for some reason I'm about as pale as a vampire!

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2013?

I'm currently reading 3 books. I'm listening to the audiobook of The Program. I'm reading a physical copy of Fairhope by Jeanie Parnell, and I'm reading an E-ARC of Charm and Strange by Stephanie Kuehn. My favorite books from 2013 are The Archived by Victoria Schwab and Pivot Point by Kasie West.

Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?

I really love my That Awkward Thursday posts. It's a feature I'm really proud of and have a lot of fun doing. My favorite is probably That Awkward Thursday: What kind of books did you say you read again?

What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

Okay, if we're talking real locations, definitely England. There are so many amazing books that have taken place in England! I would love to visit the setting from Jane Austen's novels, Kings Cross station from Harry Potter and also Blackfriar's Bridge from Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare.

Now, if we are talking ficitional locations, I would love to go to Neverland, Narnia, and Hogwarts. I mean, who wouldn't??

Well, that's me! Now, tell me about yourself! :)

  1. I'm so jealous you live by the beach. I'm about an hour away from mine so I usually only go a few times each summer. How are you liking The Program? I definitely want to read that one soon. Also, I love your That Awkward Thursday feature. I always have fun when I do those and they're great for starting discussions with other readers. And Hogwarts is the best. ever. the end.!

    1. I said pretty close to the beach and pretty close to me is about an hour! lol. I guess we are about the same distance from the beach! I am liking The Program but for some reason my audiobook didn't download properly so I'm going to have to redownload. At the 2 and a half hour mark it just stopped! Glad you like my That Awkward Thursday feature! I always enjoy reading your posts!

  2. I just came across another reader from Florida way, must be great to be near such fantastic beaches. I too had a look at your Awkward Thursday feature. Great idea. Funnily enough while I don't read a lot of YA, I do read some and think it is great. More people should read it and see.

    1. Definitely! I am actually taking a trip to London in July so I'm hoping to see some of the literary places in England!

  4. Oooh Neverland! I'd only want to go if Peter and The Lost Boys were there though; I can't imagine going on such a big adventure without them!

We've got a white sand beach here in Halifax (well, close by anyways) but the water is FRIGID! Even in mid-August you come out of the water because your legs are numb from the chill! Haha

    1. Peter would definitely make it more fun but I'd be willing to go for the never aging part alone! lol.

Hate y'all's water is so cold! Come on down to AL and we'll take a trip to the beach! :)

  5. I picked England as my literary location too. There's just SO much great lit history around England, plus settings(like those in HP!). And Hogwarts and Narnia always top my "fictional-places-I-yearn-to-go" list. I also read an e-arc of Charm & Strange and really enjoyed it, so hope the book goes well for you!
And yay for another book blogger who's also an aspiring author!

  11. Welcome to Armchair BEA! Happy first year! I LIVE in ALABAMA TOO!!!! Though I HATE football. :) I love "meeting" fellow Alabamian book bloggers! I only know a couple of others. Everyone I've seen who has answered the question about literary location said Hogwarts. I mean seriously...who wouldn't want to go to Hogwarts? Good luck with the rest of Armchair BEA!

    1. Awesome! So happy to see all the Alabama love! I'll try to forgive you for your hate of football. Being an Alabama fan I'm a huge football fan but I'll overlook due to your love of books and reading!

  12. It's my first year for Armchair BEA, too, I'm so excited!

The Archived is one of my 2013 fav's as well - Victoria Schwab is amazing. And I love your choices of places! I've been to London a couple times and definitely visited Platform 9 3/4s both times, lol. I picked Hogwarts/Diagon Alley as my fictional choice, but I almost chose Narnia! And Neverland is a great one, I didn't even think of that.
