Top Ten Tuesday (26)

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the Broke and the Bookish!

Books I Thought I'd Like More Than I Did

1) Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick

- I watched the movie first (I know that's a readers' no-no) and I absolutely loved it. I heard nothing but good things about it and my expectations were high. Unfortunately, it just fell flat for me and the fact that it spoiled four other books also didn't help.

2) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
3) Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

- Love stories are my guilty pleasure so I was recommend Stephanie Perkins's books all the time. Everyone raved about them, so needless to say my expectations were high, perhaps too high. But I believe people overhype them. I mean don't get me wrong, I did enjoy them and plan on reading the third book, but they aren't anything extraordinary or mind-blowing.

4) Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
- A love story between a human and a werewolf; sounds amazing right? Well, I thought so too, but this book wasn't for me. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.

5) Crossed & Reached by Ally Condie

- I loved Matched but I think the series went downhill after it.

6) Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines

- Okay but I was expecting more.

7) Taking Chances by Molly McAdams

- After reading Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, I went into a new adult reading kick and Taking Chances was recommended multiple times. Ugh, frustrating characters and unrealistic plot, I honestly believe it was one of the worst books I've read.

8) Fifty Shades of Grey Series by E.L. James

- Enough said right?

9) Easy by Tammara Webber

- An okay read but nothing special.

10) Slammed by Colleen Hoover

- I love Hopeless by Colleen Hoover so I was excited to read more books by her, but I strongly disliked Layken, the protagonist, which made Slammed unenjoyable. Strangely enough I did really like Point of Retreat, which is the second book.

  1. Some really great books here :)
    My TTT :)

    1. Thanks :-). I checked your list out and a lot of people have Divergent on their lists too. Probably too much hype. I'll have to read it now.

  2. I wanted to like Shiver more than I did, too, especially since it's so popular. I did like it, but the love interest, Sam, was a bit girlie for my taste. I read part of Fifty Shades out of curiosity, like 250 pages. I was not pleased. Nice list. :)

    1. Yes! He was girlie. Fifty Shades, man oh man, I have nothing else to say. Thanks :-).
