Goodreads Description:

When Freedom Airlines flight 121 went down over the Pacific Ocean, no one ever expected to find survivors. Which is why the sixteen-year-old girl discovered floating among the wreckage—alive—is making headlines across the globe.

Even more strange is that her body is miraculously unharmed and she has no memories of boarding the plane. She has no memories of her life before the crash. She has no memories period. No one knows how she survived. No one knows why she wasn’t on the passenger manifest. And no one can explain why her DNA and fingerprints can’t be found in a single database in the world.

Crippled by a world she doesn’t know, plagued by abilities she doesn’t understand, and haunted by a looming threat she can’t remember, Seraphina struggles to piece together her forgotten past and discover who she really is. But with every clue only comes more questions. And she’s running out of time to answer them.

Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her from before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?

From popular young adult author Jessica Brody comes a compelling and suspenseful new sci-fi series, set in a world where science knows no boundaries, memories are manipulated, and true love can never be forgotten.

My Thoughts:

UNREMEMBERED is the first book by Jessica Brody that I have read but it definitely won’t be my last! Full of action, mystery, suspense, and literally a love impossible to forget, UNREMEMBERED is a quick read that readers will have difficultly putting down.

I was completely intrigued when I read the description to UNREMEMBERED.  I loved the mystery of it. How did Seraphina survive the crash when no one else did? Why can’t she remember anything? Where is her family? There were so many elements of this story that had to be solved! As the story progresses some of the questions are answered but some answers only lead to more questions. Who is Diotech and what do they have to do with Sera? Should Sera trust Zen? Really, a lot is covered in this book!

I enjoyed the characters. Watching Sera learn about things like the Internet and money was both funny and entertaining. Sera was a difficult character to figure out. I didn’t always understand her decisions but the way she is explained later in the book. I loved Cody and how he referred to her as an amnesiac supermodel. Cody was probably one of my favorite characters. He was adorable and always had these smart remarks. (I was a little disappointed in his character at the end but all things considered I guess his actions were understandable). Zen was interesting and you could tell he really cared about Sera. I wasn’t crazy about his name and felt that he wasn’t around as much as he could have been. There’s still a lot that needs to be developed as far as Sera and Zen’s relationship goes. I hope that UNFORGOTTEN focuses a little more on their relationship. I just didn’t get fully connected to their relationship as I could have.

I felt that UNREMEMBERED had some interesting plot twists. I really liked one in particular. Honestly, I’m a little upset I didn’t see that one coming! Looking back I can see it but as they say hindsight is 20/20.

UNREMEMBERED does have a sci-fi element but as a person that isn’t crazy about sci-fi I can say that it isn’t too bad. I thought of it as more of a mystery/suspense novel. The plot and pacing of this novel was great. There wasn’t a lot of filler and at just over 300 pages it’s a very quick read. UNREMEMBERED leaves off with the future uncertain for both Sera and Zen and I can’t wait to see what happens in UNFORGETTEN!
