This Week’s Question: Audiobooks: A lazy form of reading or a way to get more books read?
My Answer: I LOVE AUDIOBOOKS!! Seriously, I freaking love them! I only recently started listening to them and I must say it's pure genius! On the road and can't read? Listen to your audiobook! Have someone you want to tune out? Listen to your audiobook! Have a kid that won't allow you to read for whatever reason? Pop in those headphones and listen to your audiobook people!
Thanks to audiobooks I have been able to read more books. Lately, I just haven't had as much time for reading after I get off from work. Already this year I have listened to several audiobooks and they really have been a life saver for me. i even decided to go ahead and buy an ipod just for audiobooks!!
I do get how people think that audiobooks are a lazy form of reading. Honestly, I get it. I use to think that too. However, now I see that it isn't because a person is lazy it's the simple fact that audiobooks are sometimes more convenient. I am on the road constantly with my job so it's great to be able to just listen to my audiobook and get to hear the stories I have been dying to read. I'm not a huge music person so it's a win-win for me.
Oh and if anyone is looking for an audiobook recommendation, I highly recommend Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Poison Princess. They are amazing!!

I really LOVE audiobooks. It's a great way for me to add books that maybe I'm hesitant about reading or make a trip more enjoyable. Also, I DEFINITELY wouldn't say it's the lazy way to read. I find I have to pay more attention to an audiobook than I do with a regular book, forcing myself not to do things that will distract me from what I'm listening to.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE a GOOD audiobook. I have been listening to more of them lately. I find that I like to have two books on hand. One of the more physical nature, like a regular book or an e-book, that I can physically read. And a second one that I can listen to while doing housework, driving the kids around, etc... I'm really liking the audiobooks in the Tiger's Curse series. I have also enjoyed the first book in the First Grave on the Right series. Last year the Hunger Games books were fun to listen too.
