Goodreads Description:
Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . .Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.
In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live without.

My Thoughts:
I gotta say 2013 has been a great year for me as far as books go. I have read several that I have absolutely loved and Pivot Point is yet another one! With an interesting premise, a heroine that is both likeable and believable and a plot that keeps you guessing Pivot Point is a book that you will have a hard time finding anything you don’t love about it!
For me, one of the tell-tale signs that I love a book comes after I am done reading it. It’s not just how I felt while reading it (althought that definitely plays a part as well), it’s how I felt after reading it. After finishing Pivot Point, my mind was racing and I couldn’t get the story or the characters out of my head. My mind was spinning trying to figure out what would happen in the next book!
Addison is a character you can’t help but like. She isn’t like all of the other girls in school falling over themselves to date the high school quarterback…only she kinda is. She doesn’t want to fall for the most popular guy in school but whenever she’s around Duke she just can’t help it. But that’s just one of her possible futures. In the other she’s trying to befriend Trevor and exploring a whole new life outside of the world she’s always known.
The story is told through alternating futures. At first I wasn’t sure how I would like going back and forth but once I got into the story I really liked it. You get to see how Addison’s future lays out in each option and just when you get to the point you think you know which path she’ll choice, West throws you this wicked curve ball that you couldn’t even begin to see coming. Addison is faced with one of the most difficult choices you could think of and one I am grateful I didn’t have to choose between.
The characters, the world and the writing were all spectacular! Not only was Addison an interesting character but her supporting cast was as well. They made me laugh and cry and you can’t ask for much more than that. I loved the unique world Addison grew up in. It was interesting to learn about all of the different mind powers people had.
Pivot Point is a book that you will be thinking about long after you finished the last page. It isn't the same story you've heard a million times with only a slight variation. It's something completely new and refreshing!Trust me when I say this is one book you don’t want to miss!
