My Fictional Crushes...Boys are Better in Books Day 5

I recently just finished reading a book that has my absolute favorite fictional crush and was talking to my BFF about how amazing he was. This got me to thinking that this week would be the perfect week to feature my favorite fictional crushes.

Also, I asked my BFF to compile a list as well and she was kind enough to oblige. I figured this would be twice as fun and we would able to compare our crushes.
So each day from now until Valentine’s Day we will both give you one of our top five crushes! We are going to count down and on Valentine’s Day we will both reveal our favorite fictional crush!
Now, who’s ready for some swoonworthy hotness???

Ashley's Top 5 Favorite Fictional Crushes:

5. Galen, Of Poseidon by Anna Banks

Let me start off by saying that I have a thing for princes. But really, who doesn’t?  In case you haven’t guessed Galen is a Syrena Prince. He’s got the body of a Greek god and is so funny. A lot of his humor comes from him not fully understanding humans and their slang terms which makes me that much more adorable!

“Galen?”
“Hmm?”
“You can put me down now.”
“I’m not ready yet.” He tightens his hold.
“You don’t have to hold—“
“Emma? Can you hear me?”
“Uh, yes. I can hear fine. I just can’t see—“
“That’s a relief. Because for a minute there, I thought maybe you didn’t hear me when I said I’m not ready yet.”
“Jackass.

4. Prince Maxon, The Selection by Kiera Cass

Remember earlier when I said I had a thing for princes? Yeah, still have a thing for him. Maxon turned out to be a lot different than I thought he would. I thought he was going to be this stuck up guy but turns out he's not. He's sweet, caring, affection, and most importantly he wants to make a difference in his country. He's outraged when he discovers some of the injustices out there and wants to change things.

“...Maxon lowered his lips to mine and gave me the faintest whisper of a kiss.

Something about the tentativeness of it made me feel beautiful. Without a word, I could understand how excited he was to have this moment, but then afraid at the same time. And deeper than any of that, I sensed that he adored me.

So this is what it felt like to be a lady.”    -America on Prince Maxon, The Selection by Kiera Cass

“If you don’t want me to be in love with you, you’re going to have to stop looking so lovely. First thing tomorrow I’m having your maids sew some potato sacks together for you.”  - Prince Maxon

3. Ash, The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa

Okay, so you remember the last two days when I said I had a thing for princes? Totally, proving my point here because once again I chose a prince. This time a Winter Faery Prince. Ash has the whole bad boy thing going for him but the good news is underneath his cold, hard exterior he is such a sweetheart! I'm sure he'd kill me for saying that but it's true. He would do anything for the girl he loves (in this case it's Meghan and not me!).

“Touch her, and I'll freeze your testicles off and put them in a jar. Understand?” - Ash, The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

“A soft noise, almost a sob. Ash rose, hesitated, as if fighting the compulsion to obey. "I will always be your knight, Meghan Chase," he whispered in a strained voice, as if every moment he remained was painful to him. "And I swear, if there is a way for us to be together, I will find it. No matter how long it takes. If I have to chase your soul to the ends of eternity, I won't stop until I find you, I promise."

And then he was gone.”  - Ash, The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

2. Jackson Deveaux, Poison Princess by Kresley Cole

Jackson Deveaux is not your typical bad boy. Sure, he's hot and constantly in trouble but he also has kind heart especially if your name happens to be Evie. He watches out for her and promises to never let anything hurt her. Also he speaks French, okay technically Cajun French but still it's sexy! He's strong and rugged and literally makes me want to melt into a puddle.

Here's a couple quotes to give you a little more idea of what I'm talking about...

“When you got captured, I didn't know..." He trailed off, had to chug whiskey before he could continue. "If it'd be like..."

"What?"

"Like it was with Clotile."

"Oh, Jackson, no. I was okay. I'm unharmed."

"Didn't know if I'd get there too late," he said with a shudder. Then he crossed over to me, until we stood toe-to-toe. "Evie, if you ever get taken from me again, you better know that I'll be coming for you." He cupped my face with a bloodstained hand. "So you stay the hell alive! You don't do like Clotile, you doan take that way out. You and me can get through anything, just give me a chance."--his voice broke lower "just give me a chance to get to you." He buried his face in my hair, inhaling deeply. "There is nothing that can happen to you that we can't get past."

...

"When you say we...?"

He pulled back, gazing down at me, his eyes blazing. "I'm goan to lay it all out there for you. Laugh in my face--I don't care. But I'm goan to get this off my chest."

"I won't laugh. I'm listening."

"Evie, I've wanted you from the first time I saw you. Even when I hated you, I wanted you." He raked his fingers through his hair. "I got it bad, me."

My heart felt like it'd stopped--so that I could hear him better. - Poison Princess by Kresley Cole

“If you touch me like that again, Evangeline,” he began in a husky tone, dropping to his seat once more, “in the space of a heartbeat, I will have you off this bike and onto the closest horizontal surface. And I woan be picky, no.” - Poison Princess by Kresley Cole

1. Adrian, Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead

Adrian Ivashkov is what got this whole fictional crushes thing started. I'm been in love with him ever since he showed up in Frostbite. He's funny, sarcastic and has some of the best one liners you'll ever hear. Throughout the whole series I was rooting for Adrian with Rose and I cried like a baby at the end of Last Sacrifice. I honestly don't think I'll ever come across a guy fictional or otherwise that will take his place. As Adrian would say, "There is only one Adrian Ivashkov." I'm not positive he actually said that but if he didn't it definitely sounds like something he would.

“I know how devastated you must be to miss me, but leave a message, and I'll try to ease your agony”
-Adrian, Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

“You've asked me out tons of times."
"Not really. I've made inappropriate suggestions and frequently pushed for nudity. But I've never asked you out on a real date.”  -Adrian, Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

“Takes a lot of tries before you hit perfection." He paused to reconsider that. "Well, except for my parents. They got it on the first try." -Adrian, Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

“I don't care if you say we can't be together. I don't care if you think I'm the most evil, unnatural creature walking on earth. You can think whatever you want, go whatever you want. I'm going to just go on loving you, even if it's hopeless.”  -Adrian, The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead

Honorable Mentions:

-Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan
-Zeke, The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
-Jace, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

Kaci's Top 5 Favorite Fictional Crushes:

When I was first asked to do this guest blog for Wholly Books, I thought it would be a breeze. Ha! It proved to be both the easiest and the hardest I’ve written in a while. The easy part was thinking of guys from YA/NA books to put on my crush list. I mean I am pretty sure these genres have produced some of the hottest male characters! This also leads me to the reason it was the hardest blog piece to write. There were so many I had the worst time narrowing it down to five! However, I did my best and narrowed it down. Let me know what y’all think! =)

5. Colt, Charade by Nyrae Dawn

Finally, I picked Colt from Nyrae Dawn’s book Charade. Colt sells drugs and would rather be anywhere than at college. Sounds like a loser? No way! Everything that he does is to help out his mom who is dying of cancer. You can’t fault a guy for loving his mom. He wasn’t perfect but that’s what made him perfect so to speak. When he says or does something sweet, you know he really means it. He also has that hot bad boy appeal which seems to be a theme among my picks.
“This isn’t a f-ing game anymore. No charades here. I don’t know exactly what to call it, but whatever it is, it’s ours. I’m going to latch onto it. And never let go.”

4. Garrick, Losing it by Cora Carmack

Next would be Garrick from Cora Carmack’s book Losing It. He has looks AND brains. He drives a motorcycle and has an accent. Sigh. What more could you want? He also puts up with all the awkwardness that is Bliss so that gives him major brownie points.

**I don’t really have a special quote from this book. However, I recommend you read the book because it is filled with some of the most hilarious quotes I’ve ever read!

3. Grayson, Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols

My third pick is Grayson from Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols. Mainly I picked Grayson because he flies planes and I think that’s hot.

“When I’m with you, “he began again, “it’s like…I still don’t feel normal. But I can see normal at twelve o’clock on the horizon.” He pointed past me, through the windshield of an imaginary airplane.

2. Rush, Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines

Coming in at number two is Rush from Abbi Glines’ book Fallen Too Far. (Side note: I am in love with pretty much every male character Abbi Glines sees fit to write about but for the sake of narrowing this list down I had to pick one) Back to Rush. He is the bad boy that every girl wants. Rush has all these tattoos and piercings. He curses way too much but that’s ok. Why? Because deep down he cares deeply about those he lets in his life and he is truly a good guy.
“Talk. We are going to talk first. I want to see you smile and laugh. I want to know what your favorite show was when you were a kid and who made you cry at school and what boy band you hung posters of on your wall. Then I want you naked in my bed again.”

1. Adrian, Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead

My number one crush would be Adrian from the Vampire Academy series and Bloodlines series. I am not sure if a guy gets any better or any hotter than him! He is funny, gorgeous, and slightly damaged and I like that. Sure he has his problems but at the end of the day he is a great guy. He’s loyal. What girl doesn’t want loyalty especially if it comes in a package as hot as Adrian?
“Well, you can think what you want, so long as you remember-no matter how ordinary things seem between us-I’m still here, in love with you, and care about you more than any other guy, evil or otherwise, ever will.”
