Review: Of Poseidon

Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1)

Goodreads Description:

Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen — literally Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen — literally, ouch! — both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma's gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom . . .

My Thoughts:

I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Of Poseidon. All I knew was that she was an author touring on the Fierce Reads tour that was coming near to where I lived so I bought a copy. Words cannot express how happy I am that I did!

Of Poseidon is funny, unique, and most importantly entertaining! I had to force myself to the book down and sometimes I just couldn’t do it. It was that good!

I loved the world Banks created. It was completely different and unique. The background on the Syrena was interesting and I found myself continuously wanting to learn more about them. I also loved the addition of Greek mythology.

Emma was breath of fresh air when it comes to female leads. She was so feisty and super funny without even trying. She didn’t take Galen’s crap which frustrated him to no end. The push/pull of their relationship was super cute and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it develop. Their relationship was full of miscommunication that led to hilarious situations.

Now, I would like to take just a second to mention just how very hot Galen is. The dude is a freaking Prince that looks like a Greek god. There’s just something about Princes that captures a girls heart, isn’t there?

Of Poseidon ends on a major cliffhanger. Most of the time I can see the twist coming from a mile away but the end to Of Poseidon? DID.NOT.SEE.THAT.COMING! It came as a complete shock. If I end up in prison, I blame Anna Banks because I am willing to cheat, steal, or kill to get my hands on book two. Trust me, when I say it will be worth it!

  1. This is the first review I've read that has been 100% great! I think most people were just kind of "meh" about it, but this is one of those books that I actually really want to read and want to love... but have been hesitant to pick it up because I'm scared it won't live up to what I want it to be. I know... I'm a chicken. Glad to see you really liked it!
