My Week in a Nutshell (6)

Photobucket

I haven't done a my week in a nutshell in quite a while so I have lots of things to discuss this week so I thought this would be the perfect way to do that! First things, first!

Earlier this week, I along with Kayla from Bibliophilia, Please tried to pull Percy Jackson into the next round of the YA Crush Tourney. Unfortunately, the gods did not smile upon us. Apparently, they are busy dealing with Gaea or more likely bickering amongst themselves. Percy was defeated by Patch from the Hush, Hush saga. Still, I would like to take the time thank everyone that supported Percy. We are so happy to see how many people love him just as much as we do.

Second, you may have noticed that I have a new blog design. It's great isn't it? I absolutely loved it! Cierra from Blogovation Design did it and I honestly couldn't be more happy! I recently did a giveaway in celebration of the new design (I will announce the winner shortly) and with the giveaway I asked questions about my design. Personally, I thought the name of my blog, Wholly Books!, was a really clever play on words type thing. However, I have come to realize that many people simply didn't get so I'm going to explain how I came up with the name.

The title Wholly Books essentially means this blog is wholly, entirely about books. I think most people get that part. They do not, however, understand where the cow icon came into play. When I came up with it I was thinking about the saying "Holy Cow!" so "Wholly Books!" was supposed to have a double meaning of that it was all about books but also an almost disbelief feeling of "Wow, that's a lot of books!" Like when a person says, "Holy Cow!" they are in shock of something. Does that make sense?

Anyways, I'm sure you don't really care about where I came up with the name for my blog and what not but still there it is. Me and all my cleverness.

Currently, I am reading Sovereign Hope by Frankie Rose. I'm a little over halfway through and so far I'm really enjoying it. I will be reviewing it on Me, My Shelf, and I next Friday (I think) or you can wait and I'll post the review here about a week or so later.

I also just finished the first audiobook I have bought and listened to solely for pleasure. It was Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am anxiously awaiting Scarlet.

I am way behind on writing reviews (I think I have 6, maybe 7 to do). I am hoping to knock at least 2 or 3 out tonight and the rest some time this weekend. Either way the Cinder review probably won't be up for a week or two.

Oh, and I've been thinking about doing a "Classics" Reading Challenge for next year. Basically, you would set a number of classic books you would read throughout the year and read them as you wanted. Would anyone else be interesting in doing this if I hosted it?

Finally, the giveaway winners. I have had several giveaways close this week so I decided to do a winner's post which I rarely do. So here's the winners from this week's giveaways.

Signed Monument 14: Nataly
Love, Love, Love (Blog Design Giveaway) Megan
Percy Jackson book of choice: Litza

So thanks to everyone for entering the giveaways and for continuing to read my blog. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
