Review- My Soul to Lose

My Soul to Lose (Soul Screamers, #0.5)

Goodreads Description

It was supposed to be a fun day, shopping at the mall with her best friend. Then the panic attack started and Kaylee Cavanaugh finds herself screaming, unable to stop. Her secret fears are exposed and it's the worst day of her life.

Until she wakes up in the psychiatric unit.

She tries to convince everyone she's fine--despite the shadows she sees forming around another patient and the urge to scream which comes burbling up again and again. Everyone thinks she's crazy. Everyone except Lydia, that is. Another patient with some special abilities....

My Thoughts

Honestly, I wasn’t really sure how I would feel about this series. I had heard a lot of great things about it but the idea of the book just didn’t really interest me. However, after I saw that Rachel from Fiktshun was doing a Reading Challenge I thought I should give the series a try. And I must admit that so far I am loving this series.
I bought the Soul Screamers Vol 1 that included this prequel novella. I read it before the book and I’m really glad that I did. I think reading it first gives some insight into what Kaylee has already endured and also offers a glimpse of what’s to come. I’m really hoping that we get to see more of Lydia somewhere in this series. She was such an interesting character. I know that she has more to offer to the story.
I fell in love with Kaylee’s sense of humor in this novella. Her ability to come up with these quick comebacks while hospitalized in a mental institute is amazing. She’s very quick witted and resilient. I can’t wait to see where this story goes and to watch Kaylee grow. This series has definite potential to work its’ way onto my favorites list!
