My Soul to Take- Review

My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1)

Goodreads Description:

She doesn't see dead people. She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next.

My Thoughts:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read it right after reading the prequel, My Soul to Lose, because I just had to know what happened next.
I thought the storyline in My Soul to Take was excellent. It was interesting and fast-paced. PLUS, there’s a super hot guy (Nash) then it turns out there’s another super hot guy (Tod) and they just happen to brothers. Complicated love triangle here we come. However, I must admit that in this book Tod didn’t really stand out to me. But from what I understand, he’s going to have a larger presence in upcoming books.
Some of the suspense was lost on me when it came to Nash and Tod’s relationship. I knew they were brothers because I heard so much about Tod Hudson during the YA Crush Tournament and once I heard Nash’s last name was Hudson I kinda put two and two together. (Sorry, if there was someone out there that didn’t already know that!)
I liked being able to watch Kaylee struggle with figuring out what was going on with her and I loved that Nash was there to help her. He was so sweet and understanding. I agree with others that their relationship did seem kind of rushed and I don’t fully understand his sudden attraction to her. However, I still managed to fall in love with him and enjoyed seeing their relationship progress.
There were some definite twists and turns in this book. More than enough to keep me interested. And the one at the end? Wow, didn’t see that one coming.
All in all, I thought this was a good book. The characters are relatable, the storyline is interesting, and the premise is original, all of the ingredients for a great series. I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
