Crescendo-Review

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2)

Goodreads Description:
Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it: a mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But, despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever and even worse, he's started spending time with Nora's arch-enemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadnt been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feeling that he's hiding something.

Haunted by images of her murdered father, and questioning whether her nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death, Nora puts herself increasingly in dangerous situations as she desperately searches for answers. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.

My Thoughts:
Crescendo is the second book in The Hush, Hush Saga by Becca Fitzpatrick. I read Hush, Hush back when it first came out and enjoyed it. I was eager to read the next book but I had to wait a year for it to come out. When it finally did come out I bought it and it sat on my TBR pile for months. Even though, I had enjoyed Hush, Hush I had so many books that were more fresh on my mind I didn’t mind putting Crescendo off for a while (especially since I was going to have to wait another year for Silence). I finally decided to pick it up when I heard Silence was coming out. I had thought at the time that Silence would be the final book and then I could read them back to back (that’s how I prefer to read series, I think it allows you to fully invest yourself in a story). After finishing Crescendo I looked on Becca’s website to verify Silence would be the last book and was shocked to find that it wasn’t a trilogy but a four book saga so it looks like I’ll still be waiting a while to see how everything ends.
Now that you have that entire meaningless back story, here’s the actual review. Crescendo starts a little bit after where Hush, Hush left off. Nora and Patch are openly dating and seem to be having a pretty good relationship. That is until Marcie Millar comes into the picture. Suddenly, Patch is being secretive and Nora is questioning their relationship.
I thought Crescendo was a good follow up to Hush, Hush. The story is fast paced and it keeps you guessing. However, I’m still not completely sold on the characters. Nora sometimes comes off as weak and a bit whiny. Patch on the other hand is the polar opposite. He comes off too strong and a little bit arrogant.  I believe that Patch has the best intentions for Nora even though a lot of the time it doesn’t seem like it.
Overall, I really enjoyed Crescendo. I loved the action and adventure. Fans of Hush, Hush should definitely read this installment.

  2. You gave it a B- but also recommended it. I've never read Hush, Hush so is the series worth starting?
So sad I missed the Hush, Hush giveaway :(

  3. I would say yes. Hush, Hush is definitely a good book and worth reading. The B- grade simply means I liked the book but didn't LOVE it. It's like in school a B- is still above average but also not the best. A grades only go out to books I love and A+ are books that I thought were perfect and wouldn't change anything about.
Thanks for reading my review and following my blog. I haven't been posting near as much as I would like to. I've just been so busy with everything. I have a ton of reviews to write and I'm hoping to write them soon and start posting more.

Sorry you missed the giveaway! I should have another one soon so check back!
