Entice Review

Goodreads Description

Zara and Nick are soul mates, meant to be together forever.
But that's not quite how things have worked out.

For starters, well, Nick is dead.
Supposedly, he's been taken to a mythic place for warriors known as Valhalla, so Zara and her friends might be able to get him back. But it's taking time, and meanwhile a group of evil pixies is devastating Bedford, with more teens going missing every day. An all-out war seems imminent, and the good guys need all the warriors they can find. But how to get to Valhalla?

And even if Zara and her friends discover the way, there's that other small problem: Zara's been pixie kissed. When she finds Nick, will he even want to go with her? Especially since she hasn't just turned...she's Astley's queen
.

Entice is the third book in Carrie Jones’s Need series. If you haven’t read the first two books, Need and Captivate, then you shouldn’t read Entice. Entice is definitely not a standalone novel and it does assume that you have read the first two novels.
I read the first two books back to back and I wish I would have gotten the third one and read it right after. I tend to enjoy a series more if I read them all at once.
Entice picks up right where Captivate left off. Nick is dead and Zara is a Pixie Queen. Zara turned Pixie so she could go to Valhalla to rescue Nick. The problem is no one is happy that she turned Pixie. Her friends and family don’t fully trust her. People are being killed left and right. She has no idea how to get to Valhalla and every lead they get ends in someone’s death. And then of course, there’s Astley, her king.
My thoughts
Okay, let me start off by saying that I love Astley. I liked him in Captivate but now I love him.  He is dedicated to helping Zara find Nick, even though, he knows that she should be with him. Sorry, I’m going to have to quote Astley here.
“I will find your wolf. I want you to want me because you want me, not because of grief, not because he is not here. I want you to love me for me. I want you to kiss me first and not because you need me to help you, but because you need to kiss me.”
After that, how could you not love Astley?
Another thing I loved was the twists and turns. The book is full of lies and deception, making it impossible to tell the good guys from the bad guys. More than once, Astley and Zara put their trust in someone that betrays them. Twice, it ends in death.
There were some things that I weren’t too crazy about. First, I felt like some things were repetitive. I read the same line over and over, just in different parts of the novel. At one point I just wanted to say, “Okay, I get it. Please stop telling me!” Also, Zara kind of got on my nerves. She was so selfish! But what’s worse is that she tried to pretend she wasn’t. She tries to say that she wants to get Nick back because he’s the leader and they need him to win the war. I don’t agree with that. She wants to get him because she can’t deal with the grief.
Death around every corner and a love triangle that just got a lot more complicated…Entice is a great addition to the Need series.
